Dearest friends and followers here on sleeve.

I know I have been absent on this platform for a while. 2025 was a really busy year for me. Creating the score for DR1s tv series Generations, performing in a new opera as the only non opera singer touring around Denmark, releasing the album "What ties us together will keep us apart", composing and recording another score with Silas Tinglef for an upcoming documentary about midwives airing on TV2 this spring, touring with my incredible band in Denmark this fall, followed by a tour with my trio in China (what an experience) and working on a upcoming project that I will reveal more details about shortly. (Very excited and a bit nervous about this one).

Now I'm trying top catch my breath and doing everything slowly.

I hope that we all in the upcoming year, on all platforms, online as in real life, will become better at listening to each other, even when we disagree. This year has brought lots of horror. The tragic slaughter in Gaza, the continuing war in Ukraine and Sudan and just watching with sheer dread, the new American government, rampaging and rolling back civil rights, that we thought we could take for granted in our day and age. Banning books and closing down institutions of education.
In a highly polarized time however, it is easy to divide with your own and get stuck in echo chambers with people that shares our views. I believe that we need to meet each other with love and embrace each other's differences. It is easy to be afraid of what we do not immediately understand. My hope for this year is that we will all try a little harder, to open up our minds and see what is to be found. It takes a lot of love and forgivenes to heal this mess we are in. But thanks for trying!

If you would like to hear me sing, then January brings a lot of opportunities.

I will guest BAALs Baalorama extravaganza and play 6 shows around Denmark. Along with Bjørn Fjæstad, Steen Jørgensen, Dicte og Sebastian Wolff.

I will also perform in a great celebration of Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys in DRs koncertsal on the 13th and 14th of January. I think one of the shows are sold out now.

Desuden spiller jeg til De udødelige poeters klub d.18 august. Jeg deltager her i en samtale med Lise Munch Thygesen som er forfatter til bogen “Tove Ditlevsen var min mormor”. Vi udveksler omkring traumespor som kan trækkes gennem generationer, et tema som både hendes bog og mit seneste album undersøger. Desuden vil jeg opføre en lille sang skrevet til lejligheden med en tekst af Tove Ditlevsen som jeg har elsket og beundret siden mine tidlige teenage år.

I know I have been a bit absent here recently, but here I am, back with you. I am anxiously awaiting playing some shows again. Before embarking on my tour with music from my recent album, you can catch me playing with Nikolai Hess during the Jazz festival in Brønshøj on Saturday the 5th. This being my only show near Copenhagen this summer, saving the steam for VEGA in September. If you are in Aarhus, I will be spending 4 days celebrating Billie Holiday with The Aarhus Jazz orchestra during the festival there, from the 15-18th of July. The shows are free for all. The day has come! The album is out. 

I have released a few over the years by now, but I think this one is among the best I have ever done. It has been a special journey. A thorough investigation of my own family history. The invisible marks that traces through time, which we embed in each other through generations. A process that was initially kicked off by my creative exchange with director and screenwriter Anna Emma Haudal, when she asked me to write the music for the DR drama series Generations. In that process, I had to draw on my own experience and what we all have in common. Being human. With more or less complicated family relationships. The unspoken that can be inherited, which nevertheless shapes us. All of this has helped to form the framework for the songwriting for this album. I hope you will listen and share and that you may be able to see your self reflected in some of the songs and that they will have a continued life with you. I owe the biggest thanks to my darling and closest collaborator Silas Tinglef, with whom I also wrote a few of the songs. We produced the music together and Silas is an inexhaustible source of exuberant and creative energy and plays a myriad of instruments on the record and has also recorded and mixed it all. Everything becomes a little easier with him! In addition, I would like to highlight Maria Jagd who contributes with eminent string arrangements, which have helped to lift the production to a great extent. Furthermore there are beautiful contributions from AC on bass, Anders Trentemøller on synth, the dearest Ned Ferm on saxophone and flute and Lucky Lo on BVs. A big thank you also goes to Brian Batz who has mastered the record and to my fantastic record company for many years now, stunt, Peter and Laura Littaur.

Love from Kira

On Friday I will finally release my album and the last episode of Generations will be published. Here you will get a last piece of my conversation with Anna Emma Haudal about our creative exchange and the song understanding, which I wrote with Silas before Anna Emma first made contact. This song strangely embraces Martha's story, but the lyrics were already written before I had been given the assignment.
Today the song is about Martha, myself and maybe a little about all of us and the secrets we carry with us.
You can hear the song in its full length, along with the other songs on the album from Thursday midnight and don't forget to watch Generations and the touching finale on DRtv from Friday and on Sunday on Flow
